Overview

Theorem Studio Power Lift Recliner Chair

The Theorem Studio is a quad-motor power lift recliner designed to bring together independent powered positioning and a softer, more traditional lounge-chair appearance. The backrest, legrest, headrest and lumbar support can be adjusted separately, while the powered lift function raises the chair to assist the user toward standing.

Where some lift recliners look overtly technical, the Studio is styled to sit more naturally in a living room. Its rounded arms, generous cushioning and three Santa Barbara upholstery colours give it a warmer residential feel while still providing the powered functions expected from the Theorem range.

MoveSmart offers the Studio in Petite and Standard sizes. The Petite is rated to 136 kg and the Standard to 158.7 kg, with a noticeably wider and deeper seat in the larger version.

Independent Adjustment for Everyday Comfort

The Studio allows the legrest and backrest to move independently rather than forcing both sections through one fixed sequence. That means you can raise the feet while remaining relatively upright, recline the back further for rest, then separately adjust the powered headrest and lumbar support to suit the chosen position.

This kind of adjustment is particularly useful in a chair that may be used for several hours each day. A position that feels right for reading may not be the same as one used for television or resting, and the Studio allows those changes to be made from the hand control rather than by rearranging cushions.

Powered Headrest and Lumbar Support

The powered headrest can be repositioned as the backrest reclines, helping the user maintain a comfortable viewing angle rather than simply tipping the whole upper body backwards. The powered lumbar support changes the amount of support through the lower back and can be fine-tuned independently.

These adjustments are about personal positioning and comfort. If a particular seating posture has been recommended for a medical or postural reason, it is sensible to discuss that requirement with your health professional or seating specialist.

Extended Leg Support

The Studio includes an extended legrest for additional lower-leg support when reclined. This helps the chair feel more generous in the reclined position and can be especially noticeable for users who find a shorter conventional recliner footrest leaves the lower legs less supported.

A More Residential Look

The Studio is available in Santa Barbara Fog, Latte and Bark, giving a choice from lighter neutral through to warmer, darker upholstery. Combined with the rounded arms and softly padded profile, the Studio has a more familiar lounge-chair appearance than many mobility-focused recliners.

The chair still needs sufficient room to operate safely. The Petite is approximately 91.4 cm wide and 96.5 cm deep, while the Standard increases to approximately 96.5 cm wide and 106.6 cm deep. Allow clearance for both recline and lift movement.

Key Features

  • Quad-motor powered positioning with independent backrest, legrest, headrest and lumbar adjustment.
  • Powered lift function to assist sit-to-stand transfers.
  • Power-adjustable headrest.
  • Power lumbar support.
  • Extended legrest for additional lower-leg support.
  • Comfortable rounded arms.
  • USB hand control.
  • Available in Petite and Standard sizes.
  • Santa Barbara Fog, Latte and Bark upholstery options.

Choosing Petite or Standard

The Petite has a 50.8 cm seat width, 45.7 cm seat depth and 45.7 cm seat-to-floor height. The Standard increases to a 57.1 cm seat width and 54.6 cm seat depth with a 46.9 cm seat-to-floor height.

The difference in depth and width is significant, so choosing by appearance alone is not ideal. A seat that is too deep can make it difficult to sit back fully while keeping the feet well positioned, while a seat that is unnecessarily wide may provide less lateral support than expected.

If you are uncertain, compare the measurements below with a chair that already fits comfortably or contact MoveSmart for help choosing between the two sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many motors does the Studio have?

The complete chair provides four powered adjustment functions: backrest, legrest, headrest and lumbar support.

Can the legrest and backrest move separately?

Yes. They can be adjusted independently, allowing more flexibility than a recliner where both sections move together.

What does the extended legrest do?

It provides additional lower-leg support when the chair is reclined, helping users who find a shorter conventional footrest leaves part of the lower leg unsupported.

What sizes are available?

MoveSmart currently offers Petite and Standard. The Petite has a 50.8 cm seat width and is rated to 136 kg; the Standard has a 57.1 cm seat width and is rated to 158.7 kg.

How do I choose between Petite and Standard?

Compare seat width, seat depth and seat-to-floor height with a chair that already fits well. The Standard is considerably wider and deeper than the Petite.

What colours are available?

The Studio is available in Santa Barbara Fog, Santa Barbara Latte and Santa Barbara Bark.

Does the Studio have powered headrest and lumbar adjustment?

Yes. Both functions can be adjusted independently to help the user fine-tune the seating position.

How is the chair controlled?

The Studio uses a wired USB hand control.

What are the maximum user weights?

The Petite is rated to 136 kg and the Standard to 158.7 kg.

How much room should I allow around the chair?

Allow enough space behind and around the chair for the full lift and recline movement without contacting walls, side tables or other furniture.

Can the Studio replace a medical or profiling bed?

No. It is a power lift recliner for sitting and resting. If a medical bed, prescribed sleep position or clinical pressure-care setup is required, use equipment selected for that purpose.

Is the 3D model viewer still available?

Yes. The interactive Theorem 3D viewer remains embedded above so you can inspect the chair from different angles.

Is the Theorem Studio available for delivery across New Zealand?

Yes. MoveSmart can arrange delivery of lift chairs to customers across New Zealand. Get in touch if you would like help confirming chair size or delivery arrangements before ordering.
