Full-Coverage Wet-Weather Poncho for Mobility Use
The Sense Mobility Wet Weather Poncho is a heavy-duty waterproof poncho designed to provide broad rain coverage while using a mobility scooter, powerchair or wheelchair. Its generous one-size format drapes over the user and seating area, with a large hood, reflective strips and hand slots that allow access to controls without leaving the arms fully exposed.
The front section measures approximately 122 cm long x 140 cm wide, with a rear length of around 95 cm. A carry bag is included so the poncho can be kept on the scooter, chair or in a travel bag until the weather changes.
Designed Around Seated Mobility
Ordinary raincoats often leave the lap and upper legs exposed when the wearer is seated. The poncho's broad front panel is designed to extend over more of the seated user, while the rear section provides coverage behind the chair or scooter seat.
The hand slots allow the rider to bring their hands through to reach mobility-scooter or powerchair controls. They can also be positioned around mirrors on some scooter setups, although Sense Mobility notes that doing so may reduce visibility of or access to the console.
Visibility in Dull and Wet Conditions
Reflective strips on the sides and back add a visibility feature for lower-light conditions. They work best when illuminated by another light source and should be treated as a supplement to, not a replacement for, the mobility device's own lights and reflectors.
Wet weather can also reduce traction and visibility. Even with waterproof clothing, ride more conservatively on slippery surfaces and follow the mobility-device manufacturer's guidance for rain and water exposure.
One-Size Coverage and Fit
The poncho uses a generous one-size design with an approximately 33 cm head opening. MoveSmart currently offers Maroon, Midnight Blue and Twilight Fabric variants.
Because scooters, powerchairs, wheelchairs and user body sizes vary, the way the poncho drapes will differ between setups. Make sure no loose fabric can reach wheels, castors, brakes or other moving components before travelling.
