The Rehasense Platform is an indoor walking aid with padded forearm supports for people who need additional support while standing and walking. Its adjustable platform and independent handle positioning allow a clinician to tailor the fit for rehabilitation and everyday movement on flat indoor floors.

Often called a gutter arm walker or gutter frame, this type of walking aid supports the forearms on padded gutter arms for supported indoor walking.

A gas spring assists forearm support height adjustment, while four swivelling castors help manoeuvre the rigid aluminium and steel frame. Two hand brakes and four pedal parking brakes provide control when moving and when stationary.

Why Forearm Support Changes the Walking Position

A conventional rollator carries much of the user's support through the hands and wrists. The Platform lets the forearms rest along padded gutter arms, creating a broader support surface and allowing a more upright, individually fitted position where clinically appropriate. This can be useful during rehabilitation or when hand grip alone does not provide enough support.

The forearm pads adjust vertically and horizontally, while each handle can be positioned independently. These adjustments are valuable when reach, arm position or posture differs from one side to the other. They also mean the Platform should be fitted by a physiotherapist or other clinician rather than selected by overall height alone.

Built for Supervised Indoor Rehabilitation

Four 10 cm swivelling castors make the frame responsive on smooth indoor floors and allow direction changes in therapy rooms, corridors and care environments. Each castor has a parking brake, and the handles have independent brakes with a locking function. The gas spring helps the caregiver adjust platform height smoothly; it does not raise the user from sitting to standing.

The rigid frame provides a different feel from a folding outdoor rollator. There is no rest seat, shopping bag or kerb-climbing function, and the small castors are not intended for rough paths, deep joints, gravel or outdoor gradients.

Platform, Navigator / Server W or Navigator Air?

Choose the Platform when a rigid, highly adjustable indoor rehabilitation frame with four swivelling castors is required. The Navigator / Server W adds a folding rollator frame, seat and 20 cm wheels for everyday indoor use. The Navigator Air uses much larger wheels and a 200 kg capacity for users who need forearm support outdoors.

The best choice depends on walking ability, the amount of upper-body support required, the intended environment and whether a stationary rest seat is needed.

Fitting and Use

Suitability should be assessed by a clinician. The user must be able to stand and walk with support. Lock all adjustment knobs before use and engage the parking brakes when stationary. The gas spring adjusts the supports; it does not lift a person to standing.

Is this a gutter arm walker?

Yes. Gutter arm walker, gutter frame and forearm support walker are common terms for this style of walking aid. The padded supports, often called gutter arms, support the forearms while the hands use the grips and brakes.

Who is the Platform designed for?

People needing forearm support during indoor walking or rehabilitation. A physiotherapist or other appropriate clinician should assess suitability and adjust the supports.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The manufacturer specifies indoor use on flat surfaces.

Does the gas spring lift the user to standing?

No. It assists adjustment of the armrest height only. The Platform must not be used as a stand-up lifting aid.

How are the forearm supports adjusted?

The padded supports adjust vertically and horizontally. The NZ specification lists a height range of 90.5–131 cm and 32–46 cm clearance between the pads.

Will it fit through my doorways?

Measure the route against the fitted walker before use. The supplier lists an overall width up to 80 cm; arm support position changes its clearance, so a 70 cm doorway should not be assumed suitable.

Does it include a seat or accessory holders?

There is no seat. An oxygen bottle holder, IV stand and one-hand brake are optional accessories, supplied separately.

How should it be cleaned?

Use a damp cloth or mild non-corrosive cleaner with warm water, then dry. Avoid abrasive and bleach-based cleaners and follow the user manual.
