Description
icare M1 Medical Mattress – Firm Medical Support for Stability and Transfers
The icare M1 Medical Mattress is the firmest option in iCare’s M-Line medical mattress range. It is designed for users who need a durable waterproof medical surface, stable support and pressure care without the deeper immersion of the M2 or M3. Its particularly broad 60–300 kg user-weight range also makes it relevant for higher-weight and bariatric users where the mattress dimensions and full care setup are appropriate.
The 150 mm-high M1 uses a firm XP Support base and reinforced sides to create a stable platform for turning, repositioning and transfers. Firm edge support provides a predictable perimeter for sitting at the side of the bed, while the waterproof Zerotec™ medical cover and SlideSkin™ anti-shear technology support hygiene and help reduce friction and shear during movement.
iCare classifies the M1 as a Medium Risk pressure-care mattress with a Firm Feel. It is designed for profiling and adjustable beds and is a strong choice where stability, transfer support, wipe-clean hygiene and a high user-weight capacity are more important than deep immersion.

Which iCare M-Line Mattress Should I Choose?
Choose the M1 when you need a firm, stable medical mattress, Medium Risk pressure care and a high user-weight capacity. Choose the M2 when High Risk pressure care is required but a Medium Feel and castellated surface are preferred for a balance of immersion and mobility. Choose the M3 when a softer Plush Feel, greater immersion and ActiveFloat™ pressure redistribution are the priority.
The M-Line range is designed around medical-care practicality, with Zerotec™ waterproof covers and anti-shear technology. For users with very high pressure-care needs who require active pressure changes rather than a static foam surface, the VersaFlo3™ alternating-air system is a separate step up and should be considered with appropriate clinical input.

Why Choose a Firm Medical Mattress?
A firmer, lower-immersion surface can make it easier for some users to roll, reposition and push up from the bed. It can also provide a more predictable edge for lateral transfers or standing transfers. This is one of the M1’s main strengths.
The trade-off is comfort and envelopment: users who find firm surfaces uncomfortable or who need greater immersion may be better matched to the M2 or M3. Mattress selection should take pressure risk, skin condition, mobility, comfort, continence, transfer method and time spent in bed into account.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the M1 feel like?
The M1 has a Firm Feel and relatively low immersion.
Who is the M1 most likely to suit?
It can suit users who need a stable waterproof medical mattress, value easier bed mobility and transfers, or require the broader 60–300 kg user-weight range.
How does the M1 differ from the M2?
The M1 is Firm Feel and Medium Risk. The M2 is Medium Feel, uses a castellated surface and is classified for High Risk pressure care.
How does it differ from the M3?
The M3 is a deeper 200 mm Plush Feel mattress using ActiveFloat™ for greater immersion and envelopment. The M1 is firmer, 150 mm high and more mobility-focused.
When would VersaFlo3™ be considered instead?
VersaFlo3™ is a powered hybrid alternating-air system for Very High Risk pressure-care needs. It is a different category of support and should be selected according to the user’s clinical requirements.
What pressure-care category does iCare give the M1?
iCare classifies the M1 as Medium Risk and lists a Waterlow rating up to 10.
Does that risk category replace a clinical assessment?
No. Manufacturer classifications guide selection but do not replace individual pressure-risk assessment and skin monitoring.
What user-weight range is it designed for?
iCare specifies 60–300 kg.
Is the M1 suitable for bariatric users?
Its 300 kg maximum user-weight specification makes it relevant to many higher-weight users, but the complete bed, transfer method, mattress width and care environment also need to be suitable.
How thick is the mattress?
The M1 is 150 mm high.
What is XP Support?
XP Support is the firm structural material used in the base and sides to provide stability.
What is SlideSkin™?
SlideSkin™ is an anti-shear system that allows movement within the cover structure to help reduce friction and shear at the user interface.
Is the cover waterproof?
Yes. The Zerotec™ medical cover is waterproof, breathable and designed for wipe-clean care.
Can it be used on an adjustable bed?
Yes. It is designed for iCare homecare beds and compatible profiling platforms.
What sizes does MoveSmart offer?
Single, King Single, Long Double, Queen and Split Queen are currently listed.
What warranty is included?
