Description

icare M2 Medical Mattress – Medium-Feel High-Risk Pressure Care

The icare M2 Medical Mattress is the middle option in iCare’s M-Line range, combining High Risk pressure care with a Medium Feel and a castellated support surface designed to assist turning, repositioning and transfers. It provides more contouring than the firm M1 without moving to the deeper Plush Feel of the M3.

At 150 mm high, the M2 uses an XP Support base and reinforced sides for stability, while the castellated upper surface allows sections of foam to respond more independently around the user. Firm edge support provides a predictable perimeter for sitting and transfers and helps reduce roll-out risk.

The mattress is finished with a waterproof, wipeable Zerotec™ medical cover using SlideSkin™ anti-shear technology. iCare specifies a 40–215 kg user-weight range and designs the M2 for use on adjustable and profiling beds.

Which iCare M-Line Mattress Should I Choose?

Choose the M2 when you need High Risk pressure care with a Medium Feel and want to preserve practical in-bed movement. The M1 is firmer, lower-immersion and rated Medium Risk, with a broader user-weight range up to 300 kg. The M3 is a deeper 200 mm Plush Feel mattress with ActiveFloat™ for greater immersion and envelopment.

If a static foam mattress is no longer appropriate for the user’s pressure-care needs, the VersaFlo3™ is a powered hybrid alternating-air system in a different category. It should be considered with appropriate clinical assessment rather than chosen simply because it has a higher risk classification.

Why the Castellated Surface Matters

The cuts in a castellated foam surface allow smaller sections of the mattress to flex and contour more independently. This can improve envelopment without requiring the entire mattress to be very soft. For the user, that means a balance between pressure redistribution and the ability to move across the bed.

That balance can be particularly important for people who still assist with their own repositioning or transfers. A mattress that is too immersive may increase effort, while one that is too firm may not provide the comfort or pressure distribution the user needs.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the M2 feel like?

The M2 has a Medium Feel with moderate immersion and a stable reinforced structure.

Who is the M2 most likely to suit?

It can suit users who need High Risk pressure care but also value in-bed mobility, transfer support and a waterproof medical cover.

How does the M2 differ from the M1?

The M1 is firmer, lower-immersion and Medium Risk. The M2 is Medium Feel, uses a castellated surface and is classified High Risk.

How does it differ from the M3?

The M3 is 200 mm high with a Plush Feel and ActiveFloat™ comfort layer for greater immersion and envelopment. The M2 is 150 mm high and more mobility-focused.

When would VersaFlo3™ be considered instead?

VersaFlo3™ is a powered alternating-air system intended for Very High Risk pressure-care needs. It is a different type of support surface and should be selected according to the individual user’s clinical needs.

What does the castellated surface do?

It allows sections of the foam to flex more independently around the body, supporting contouring, pressure redistribution and movement.

What pressure-care category does iCare give the M2?

iCare classifies the M2 for High Risk pressure care and lists a Waterlow rating of 20+.

Does that classification replace a clinical assessment?

No. Manufacturer classifications guide selection but do not replace individual pressure-risk assessment, skin monitoring and clinical judgement.

What user-weight range is it designed for?

iCare specifies 40–215 kg.

How thick is the mattress?

The M2 is 150 mm high.

What is XP Support?

XP Support forms the stable base and reinforced sides of the mattress.

How do the firm edges help?

They create a more stable surface for sitting, transfers and repositioning at the mattress perimeter.

What is SlideSkin™?

SlideSkin™ is an anti-shear system designed to let the cover move more freely with the user and help reduce friction and shear.

Is the cover waterproof?

Yes. The Zerotec™ medical cover is waterproof, wipeable and breathable.

Does the M2 need to be flipped?

No. It uses a flip-free design.

Can it be used on an adjustable bed?

Yes. It is compatible with adjustable and profiling bed platforms.

What sizes does MoveSmart offer?

Long Single, King Single, Long Double, Queen and Split Queen are currently listed.

What warranty is included?

The M2 includes a 5-year limited warranty, subject to iCare’s warranty terms.
