Compact Five-Piece Powerchair for Everyday Use and Vehicle Transport
The Pride Go Chair® is a compact rear-wheel-drive powerchair designed for everyday indoor mobility with the added advantage of feather-touch disassembly. It separates into five manageable sections without tools, making it much easier to transport than a conventional full-size powerchair that stays as one heavy base.
The heaviest individual piece weighs approximately 16.3 kg. Combined with a compact 83.8 × 57 cm footprint, 64.5 cm turning radius and 136 kg maximum user weight, that makes the Go Chair a strong option for users who want powered mobility at home but also expect to take the chair in a car.
Where the Go Chair Fits in the MoveSmart Powerchair Range
The Go Chair sits between ultra-light folding travel powerchairs and conventional full-size powerchairs. Compared with the Jazzy Ultra Light, the Go Chair is heavier overall but dismantles into separate sections, so each lift is more manageable than moving the entire chair at once.
The Merits Regal EZ follows a similar dismantling approach and is also aimed at vehicle transport, while the Go Chair offers Pride's compact rear-wheel-drive platform, swivel seat and under-seat storage.
If regular vehicle loading is not a priority and tighter mid-wheel turning or more suspension performance is more important, consider the Jazzy Select 6.
Feather-Touch Disassembly for Car Transport
The Go Chair breaks down into five pieces without tools. The seat, battery box and other sections can be removed from the power base, reducing the lifting burden compared with moving a complete chair in one piece.
The heaviest section is approximately 16.3 kg, so it is still important to check who will lift it, the height of the vehicle boot lip and the shape of the cargo opening. Disassembly helps, but it does not remove the need for safe lifting.
Compact Indoor Manoeuvrability
A 64.5 cm turning radius, 57 cm base width and rear-wheel drive give the Go Chair predictable everyday handling around doorways, kitchens, hallways and other domestic spaces. The overall length is approximately 83.8 cm.
Rear-wheel drive gives a different feel from a mid-wheel chair: the front of the chair swings through a wider arc, but the driving response can feel familiar and stable for users who prefer a conventional powered-wheelchair layout.
Swivel Seat, Adjustable Armrests and Under-Seat Storage
The standard seat is approximately 45.7 cm wide × 43.1 cm deep and can swivel to assist access. Flip-up armrests are adjustable for both width and height, helping the chair fit different users more comfortably and making side access easier.
Under-seat storage provides a useful place for smaller everyday items without adding a rear basket to the chair.
Battery, Range and Everyday Performance
The Go Chair uses two 12V 18Ah batteries in a removable battery box weighing approximately 14 kg. Maximum speed is up to 5.9 km/h, with a stated range of up to 14 km.
Range figures are best treated as a comparison figure rather than a guaranteed everyday distance. User weight, gradients, floor or path surface, temperature, battery condition and driving style all influence how far the chair will travel between charges.
Suitable Surfaces and Ground Clearance
Ground clearance is approximately 4.5 cm at the frame. The Go Chair is best suited to indoor floors, shopping areas, sealed footpaths and other formed surfaces. It does not have suspension, so rough paving, gravel, kerbs and broken surfaces should be approached conservatively.

Is this powerchair available for delivery across New Zealand?
We can and do deliver to customers across New Zealand — however, powerchairs are more complex products and can be sizeable, so we generally recommend buying locally where hands-on setup, servicing and ongoing support are available. A trial is also valuable before purchase. MoveSmart focuses its sales and servicing within the Central Plateau region. Get in touch and we can discuss delivery, support or a suitable dealer closer to you.
